Red Hat Ships JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5.0
Red Hat Inc. has launched its next-generation portal solution, JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5.0, offering organizations a flexible, open source alternative for building, deploying, integrating and managing on-premise and cloud-based applications. Red Hat also made other middleware and cloud announcements.
Red Hat Inc. has launched its next-generation portal solution, JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5.0, offering organizations a flexible, open source alternative for building, deploying, integrating and managing on-premise and cloud-based applications.
JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5.0 aims to simplify the creation, deployment and managing dynamic web presences, said Craig Muzilla, vice president and general manager for middleware, Red Hat, in a statement. “JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5.0 provides users the interaction capabilities necessary to build and deploy rich web-based applications,” he added.
Red Hat said JBoss Open Choice is part of is plan to provide lightweight, flexible middleware to support various programming models, languages and deployment options.
JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5 provides a portal framework with an ecosystem of functionality for web content management, document management system, calendaring and forums. It also offers bridges for various Web frameworks, including JSF, that enable users to build applications for JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform without learning new frameworks.
Additionally, Red Hat announced availability of:
- A Technical Preview of the JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform Site Publisher, a web content management and workflow product that address an organization’s web content needs, powered by eXo. Site Publisher an optional add-on component to JBoss Enterprise Portal Platform 5.0 that provides additional web content management features, the company said.
- Red Hat Cloud Foundations, a new suite of cloud-optimized solutions for planning, building and managing infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) private and public clouds. The offering includes products, implementation cookbooks and reference architectures, as well as expert consulting and training classes.
Red Hat also announced its plans to allow enterprises and certified cloud providers deliver platform-as-a-service capabilities.
