The explosive success of cloud computing, and especially SaaS, will drive IT in 2012 to search for better ways to ensure security, privacy and enterprise-wide identity and access management. IDNspeaks with Darren Platt, CTO of Symplified about what his firm, which just closed on $20 million in funding, sees coming for cloud security.

Gartner’s report “Top Industry Predicts 2012: Industries Face Intensified Consumerization and Technology Disruption,” offers 15 strategic planning assumptions that CIOs, senior business executives and IT leaders should put in their playbooks.  Some may raise a few eyebrows.

Enterprise mobile IT programs may get a lot easier with the next wave of mobile devices as Red Bend Software has released a major update to its mobile virtualization solution portfolio.  vLogix Mobile 5.0 looks to make it easier for IT to extend on-premise apps to mobile users and support BYOD for many smartphones, tablets and other wireless devices. 

CaseCentral, a provider of cloud-based eDiscovery software, has rolled out the new self-service CaseCentral CloudConnect software for the CaseCentral eDiscovery Platform. The company’s SaaS option is designed to simplify management, integration of electronically stored information and data.

The Scribe Online cloud integration platform is helping one of the world’s largest sports leagues for kids cut cost and complexity for integration.  In the project Upward Sports is using Scribe Online to tie customer registration data into its business-critical, cloud-based apps from Microsoft.

More companies will adopt cloud development practices in 2012 as IT organizations build and deploy software in the cloud, according to CollabNet. The result will be new lifecycle models for software design, development and deployment.

ASG Software Solutions is shipping an update to its CloudFactory cloud management application suite for private, public or hybrid clouds. The updates extend the ability to easily and quickly provision and manage a wide range of cloud-based ‘as-a-service’ options. It also sports a new UI for better self-service and usability.
