"Interactive, immersive software visualization is an important component to solving the endemic problem with requirements on software projects," said Michael Loria, vice president of business development, IBM Rational Software, in a statement. "iRise [has] proven the benefits of visualization across a broad set of industries and application types."
Built on IBM's Jazz platform, iRise will provide 'high-fidelity visualizations' from within the IBM's Rational Requirements Composer product. The goal: to save companies time and money by ensuring that IT organizations are documenting and tracking the right business needs, the companies said.
Moreover, the iRise visualizations are published in real time and can be linked into the web of other requirements artifacts so developers can decide the right applications to build and stakeholders can provide feedback early in the software life cycle.
iRise CEO and co-founder Emmet Keeffe III, said helping companies better assess how software designs meet software business requirements is a key focus for the company's tools.
"Fixing the requirements problem is a huge win for IT organizations that develop custom or packaged applications," Keeffe said in the statement. "This complete visualization, requirements definition and management solution is the best way to eliminate the risk of project failure."
