MuleSource Galaxy Targets Open Source SOA Governance

MuleSource Inc. has taken the next step in Open Source SOA infrastructure with release to general availability of its Mule Galaxy Enterprise, a production-ready offering for SOA Governance, with a focus on storing and managing SOA artifacts.

MuleSource Inc. has taken the next step in Open Source SOA infrastructure with release to general availability of its Mule Galaxy Enterprise, a production-ready offering for SOA Governance, with a focus on storing and managing SOA artifacts.

Mule Galaxy Enterprise, which builds on the success of the Mule Galaxy Community Edition, offers new enterprise-class features including clustering for high availability and an extensible query engine.

"We've worked closely with our Global 2000 customers to identify and deliver critical features that enhance and extend the value of our Galaxy Community Edition solution, making it rock solid for enterprise deployments," said Ross Mason, co-founder and CTO of MuleSource, in a statement. "Until now, SOA Governance has been a 'rich-man's sport,' dominated by one or two large proprietary vendors. With these new enterprise-class features, Mule Galaxy Enterprise offers a truly compelling open source alternative for even the most demanding customers."

Inside Mule Galaxy Enterprise
Mule Galaxy Enterprise sports a number of new features to expand support SOA Governance operations for managing and ensuring availability of services and policies. Among them:

  • Ability to create high availability/fault tolerant deployments by clustering Galaxy instances to ensure that the registry/repository is never down so enterprises can be assured that their mission-critical applications that depend on Galaxy are running and trouble free.
  • Support for service lookup and custom data types for other proprietary or in-house applications via an extensible query engine.
  • Support for Microsoft Office documents that allows customers to store and search documentation relating to services and applications.


    • Users can deploy the new software either alongside the Mule ESB as a part of a larger Mule architecture or as a standalone component in an enterprise's SOA infrastructure, the company said. A unique feature of the software is Mule NetBoot, which makes it easier for enterprises to manage and deploy applications, according to MuleSource.

    Mule Galaxy Enterprise is available immediately by subscription. Subscriptions include automated upgrades and patch management, support, and indemnification.
