Red Hat Rolls Out OpenStack Platform 4.0 for Enterprise-Class Public, Private and Hybrid Clouds

Red Hat has launched Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 4.0 aimed at helping more quickly deliver enterprise-ready public, private and open hybrid cloud solutions.  OpenStack Platform 4.0 is built using Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5 and the Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Hypervisor built on KVM.  It also leverages OpenStack Havana open source cloud platform, which was released last fall with nearly 400 new features.

Akamai Beefs Up Cloud, Internet Security with $370 Million Prolexic Purchase

Akamai has acquired cloud security firm Prolexic Technologies Inc. for $370 million. Akamai inked the deal to help enterprise IT protect networks, applications and data against distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. A newly combined solution will be especially useful for email, file transfers, VPNs and virtual data centers, officials said.
