GigaSpaces Technologies is showing a “preview version”  of its soon-to-be released  eXtreme Application Platform (XAP) enterprise-grade application server for distributed applications.  XAP  7.1 will sport new features tuned for cloud and data grids, and is due to ship Q1 2010.

Survey: Enterprise IT Eager for ‘Hybrid’ Cloud Options

A just-released Evans Data Corp. survey finds cloud computing set to rumble to reality in 2010.   Evans’ Cloud Development Survey found 61% of developers expect to move ‘at least some’ IT resources to the cloud, and prefer a ‘hybrid cloud’ option that combines public and private cloud models.

New research on real customers from Enterprise Management Associates (EMA) finds more than 75% of enterprises report cloud computing has delivered in “real, measurable cost savings,” under the proper deployment.  The EMA report, “The Responsible Cloud,” surveyed 159 enterprise IT decision-makers.
