ASG Software Solutions is shipping an update to its CloudFactory cloud management application suite for private, public or hybrid clouds. The updates extend the ability to easily and quickly provision and manage a wide range of cloud-based ‘as-a-service’ options.
The latest edition of CloudFactory also sports a new Amazon-like UI for better self-service and usability.
CloudFactory enables customers to handle challenging cloud deployments by simplifying the management of complex cloud environments; offering increased capabilities and self-service for SaaS, PaaS, DaaS or IaaS (the company calls this XaaS), according to ASG CEO Arthur Allen.
ASG’s CloudFactory update includes tighter integration with ASG’s Enterprise Automation Management Suite (EAMS) and IT Service Management technologies. As a result the latest CloudFactory provides new operations and management capabilities, including:
- Monitoring of complex hybrid cloud environments: With the integrated dashboards users get a “single-pane-of-glass” view to their personalized cloud services.
- Managing cloud elasticity: The integration of ASG’s EAMS, enables the solution to identify when a pre-defined capacity threshold is met. Then the solution will automatically deploy additional computing or storage capacity in a private, public or hybrid cloud.
- Amazon-like interface and service catalogue: The user-friendly interface makes it easy for companies to order and manage assets, including public and private cloud services, according to users’ roles and permissions.
- Improved IaaS capabilities: Customers can adopt best-fit virtualization technologies in a single orchestration solution that supports all market leading hypervisor technologies, including VMware vSphere ESXi, Citrix XenServer, Microsoft Hyper-V and KVM (Linux-based).
Inside ASG’s CloudFactory
CloudFactory gives enterprises a comprehensive and cost effective solution to plan, deploy, control and optimize their IT infrastructures. It consists of three core modules
CloudShaper – CloudFactory’s backend that automates and provisions the server, operating system and application based on the virtualization platform. It provides modeling and centralized management of modern cloud environments and supports automated and flexible provisioning of servers, OSes and applications. It also provides ITIL-compliant release management, including rollback to previous statuses; audit-compliant logging and quick recovery in the event of trouble
CloudRobot – This feature helps with automated and workflow-based provisioning of applications and services. The module also supplies processes based on standardized interfaces. It provides automated deployment of applications, services, as well as IT and business processes using standardized interfaces to control provisioning. Further, it offers extensive configurability, reports usage and supports contract management (for licensing compliance, etc.) .
CloudCockpit - CloudFactory’s frontend, which offers secure access to applications, content and services via a uniform, user-friendly user interface.
“We created a technology-independent cloud service broker and orchestration suite that automates and simplifies the delivery of applications as cloud based services for everyone,” Allen said in a statement. “Our sophisticated modules guarantee a fast and easy creation, delivery and management of cloud environments while leveraging existing investments,” he said.
