Vordel, a provider of gateways for SOA and cloud computing, is teaming up with software security consulting firm Cigital to secure enterprise mobile operations. The partnership will offer Best Practices security, governance and compliance for enterprise mobile apps.
A recent Vordel survey of enterprise architects at F500 firms and government agencies found nearly half (48%) said concerns over security kept them from delivering business services via mobile devices or migrating enterprise apps to the cloud. Further, 26% said integration mobile and enterprise apps were also a concern.
“Securely delivering enterprise services via mobile apps is not a trivial task, because mobile security is not as well established as, for example, SOA security,” said Vic Morris, CEO of Vordel, in a statement. The Vordel/Cigital partnership will help companies in North America overcome the challenges of delivering business services via mobile devices, he added.
“In spite of the attention paid to mobile development in the last two years, many organizations still lack the awareness and skill sets to address the challenges of integrating and securing mobile applications,” said Stuart Dross, VP, Sales and Marketing of Cigital, in the statement. “Together [the two companies] can advise and promote solutions that can resolve the key concerns of our clients.”
Cigital and Vordel have worked together at a variety of customers and industry verticals ranging including discrete manufacturing, financial services and healthcare, officials said.
Vordel is the manufacturer of the Vordel Application Gateway, an XML Gateway or SOA appliance designed to integrate, secure, control, and accelerate various types of on-premise and off-premise message traffic between many types of applications using SOAP, REST, XML, JSON and other formats. It can interface with ESBs, SOA governance, identity management and access management platforms.
Cigital’s mobile security practice includes developer training, architecture risk analysis, static analysis of native mobile applications and mobile application penetration testing.
