Nimsoft Brings Unified Management to SAP Across Physical, Cloud and Virtual

Unified management provider Nimsoft is shipping an automated solution aimed to help SAP users manage and optimize service levels -- across physical, virtual and cloud infrastructure. Nimsoft Monitor for SAP extends the ability of Nimsoft Monitor to core business-critical SAP events and components for SAP NetWeaver, SAP ECC, ABAP and Java.
Nimsoft Monitor for SAP also features a built-in, updateable knowledgebase of key performance indicators (KPIs) and what the company calls “Best Practice thresholds” designed to help administrators quickly identify and resolve SLA problems and even proactively address potential issues before they impact service levels.

Nimsoft Monitor is a component of Nimsoft Unified Manager, a multi-tenant IT Management-as-a-Service solution that combines industry-leading infrastructure monitoring and ready-to-use ITIL®-based service management. When used in conjunction with other Nimsoft Monitor products, the latest offering allows customers to gain a unified view into the networks, servers, databases and storage supporting SAP.
In specific, Nimsoft Monitor for SAP provides:
A consolidated view of SAP environments. Provides consolidated, secure, and agentless access to key performance indicators (KPIs) within SAP. This automated process eliminates the need for Basis administrators to log into multiple locations to manually run and analyze SAP performance traces.
Support for data security and regulatory compliance. Connects to the SAP system with a dedicated SAP authorization profile. This, along with the controls found in Nimsoft Unified Management Portal, allows you to safely enable SAP performance from anywhere in the world by internal or third-party resources—without risking unauthorized access to confidential data.
Seamless deployment. Uses standard SAP-approved communication protocols (SAP Remote Function Calls) to retrieve performance information, and the flexible Nimsoft message bus to transport it. Together, these capabilities reduce the risk of communication issues and ensure seamless monitoring of future SAP releases.
Historical views of performance. Because Nimsoft Monitor stores performance data over time, your IT administrators gain a baseline of normal SAP performance across network, storage, operating system, database, and ABAP application tiers. When cyclical workloads, such as financial close, degrade performance, IT can more easily spot trends to proactively increase capacity or reschedule jobs to alleviate bottlenecks.
The solution was co-developed with Agentil, a certified SAP Service Partner and Nimsoft Unified Management Alliance member. Agentil’s deep knowledge of SAP coupled with Nimsoft’s Unified Manager architecture and APIs are key to the latest solution, said Agentil CEO Jean-François Lauri.

The latest solution for managing and monitoring business-critical SAP ‘hybrid’ environments is already providing benefits to customers. For example, the trading arm of LUKOIL, one of Russia’s largest oil companies, is using Nimsoft Monitor to maintain performance and availability of its SAP infrastructure. Nimsoft Monitor allows Litasco to construct a simple web-based business management dashboard to see and manage SAP incidents and service availability, according to Jean-Christophe Massotte, CEO of Lukoil’s Technology Services group.
