necto_panoramaPanorama Software, a vendor of business intelligence solutions, has launched Necto BI, a new way to connect data, analytic insights, and individuals across a company. Necto is a socially-enabled BI platform that provides users with tailored and highly-relevant results.

“The focus on the relevancy of information is a transformative force in the consumer marketplace,” said Kobi Averbuch, VP of Research & Development at Panorama Software, in a statement.

Panorama’s Necto uses algorithms to identify data that’s specific to each user’s taste. Panorama’s Automated Intelligence Driving Engine (AIDEN) extracts the right context from user analytics, according to Averbuch. AIDEN looks carefully at the inputs and the way various users search for data then produce insights chosen by the algorithms to produce the relevant data.

Necto can identify issues from massive amounts of data in just one click and then automatically identify the causes of these issues. That means users don’t have to understand BI modeling and technology so they can focus on the business goals, he added.

Necto also includes Panorama Analytics, which presents an intuitive analytics user interface and user experience to allow non-specialists to navigate large amounts of data and generate important business insights. One-click insights and “bubble up” exceptions enable users to:

  • Analyze and report against business data to gain insight into business performance
  • Investigate and discover the “why” behind a business event or action to improve performance
  • Proactively identify business trends and challenges
  • Determine KPIs to compare actual performance against determined goals
  • Maintain connections to data, analysis with offline capabilities
  • Extend business information to customers, suppliers, partners and other key
    stakeholders
  • Proactive alerts and notifications for enhanced management by exception processes

“By automatically delivering relevant insights to the users, Necto eliminates the need of business users to understand the ‘how’ and focus on the ‘why,’” Averbuch added.

The automated capabilities eliminate the need for users to understand BI modeling and technology. It also allows users to focus on business goals with “one-click insights” that quickly pinpoint trends and challenges from volumes of data. Necto also can automatically identify the root cause of a problem using its “Cause & Effect” feature.

Necto users can also create collaborative work boards and visual presentations to provide better context for ad hoc business teams. All of these capabilities are backed by an intelligent BI engine that can scale to meet the needs of tens of thousands of users handling massive amounts of data.

Necto’s “social bar” interface allows users can search for relevant business friends based on personal preference or relevancy criteria. Necto also builds a “social graph” for users to show them preferences and data based upon other users’ visits and related behavior, Averbuch said. Additionally, Necto builds an “interest graph” based on the user’s interests and feedback, indicating the areas that need further review or that pose potential problems.

Panorama has been a long term partner of Microsoft, delivering BI solutions for the Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Office 2010 and Microsoft SharePoint 2010. “Necto will be one of the first socially enabled BI solutions to work on slate and be interoperable with the Windows Azure and Microsoft next SQL Server release ‘Denali’ platforms while supporting both OLAP and BISM modes,” said Kim Akers, general manager for Global ISV partners at Microsoft Corp.
