Pervasive Software Pervasive Software has launched a new online community platform for data integration that combines elements of marketplace, community and even online provisioning.

Pervasive’s Galaxy online project will provide customers easy access to a full ecosystem of data and application integration products, connectors, plug-ins, tools proven templates and complete pre-integrated solutions from Pervasive and partners. Galaxy also aims to make it easier for customers to achieve integrations for on-premise, cloud, SaaS and B2B projects., Dan Zadik, Pervasive’s community development manager told IDN.

marketplace & community site here.

More than a simple marketplace portal, Galaxy is architected to let customers to do much more than search, preview and buy data and application integration offerings for on-premise and cloud. Galaxy lets customers and vendors connect, collaborate, co-design and even deploy and run integrations.

“We see Galaxy as a strategic move for Pervasive,” Zadik said. “Galaxy underscores our whole focus to make integration easier for customers and for us to build relationships with SaaS, SIs and other partners. You should be able to quickly figure out what you need, find it and even buy and run it easily.”

Beyond basic marketplace features, Galaxy is also powered under the covers by the Pervasive DataCloud on-demand runtime services platform, and rich community and connect features, Zadik told IDN.

As a result, Galaxy will offer these strategic capabilities:

Access a Broad Range of Integration Components. Pervasive designed Galaxy to support a wide range of integration offerings including engines, workflows, connectors, agents and rich data services that will support data loading, data matching, profiling, transformation, data mining and analytics. Pre-defined templates and mappings for point-to-point integrations, data preparation for SaaS and even vertical industries are all expected to be available this year, Zadik told IDN.

“Galaxy makes it easier for our partners to make their IP available to customers, and customers can quickly see and use what’s out there."

Deploy and Run Integration in the Cloud. The Galaxy-based integration solutions provide a turn-key project with all components needed for a point-to-point integration. Each  integration solution delivered from Galaxy comes with their own engine, allowing the integration to run either through the cloud (via Pervasive DataCloud)or on-premise (using Pervasive DataCloud Agents). Customers can even arrange and contract a subscription agreement right from the site.

“For many customers using Galaxy, especially for SaaS, they shouldn’t have to download anything,” Zadik said. “They’ll simply choose the integration they need and run that in the cloud.”

Get On-Going, Direct Access to New Integration IP. This feature allows a broader range of customers to quickly and affordably benefit from all the discreet customer projects conducted by the Pervasive partner network of ISVs, SIs and consultants.

“Our partners develop new integration capabilities all the time, but today there’s no easy or cost-effective ways to connect those solutions to customers looking for them,” Zadik said. “Galaxy makes it easier for our partners to make their IP available to a broader reach of customers, and customers can quickly see and use what’s out there.”

Create Customer Co-Ops, Crowdsourcing Relationships. These allow multiple customers to connect and agree about certain integration capabilities, propose designs for new integration projects and offerings and even jointly combine customer contributions toward financing a project – to encourage vendors to build and offer new and custom products.

“We expect Galaxy to let customers more directly drive the integration investments and efforts of Pervasive and our partners in new ways,” Zadik said.  Today’s integration market, driven by an explosion of SaaS, SOA services and API,  is growing so fast that customers need a more direct way to quickly get the precise integration solutions they need, he added.

Purchase and Download On-Premise Integration. For on-premise solutions or upgrading individual components, the customer can purchase and download any connector, plug-in, template, etc.

Galaxy will start out populated with most Pervasive offerings, Zadik said, but will quickly expand to include offerings from ISVs, SaaS and system integrators—and even end users.

One noted integration analyst was supportive of Galaxy’s approach to helping customers better tap into the power of an integration ecosystem.

“Partners seek ecosystems to share, deliver, and monetize innovation to customers,” said Ray Wang, principal analyst and CEO at Constellation Research Group. “As partners and vendors improve how they collaborate with customers, these ecosystems will provide demand driven force multipliers in delivering last mile solutions.”

Pervasive partners also were bullish about the approach. As an example, Dave Weiss, director of data integration at Keystone Business Services, said, “We are very excited to see how Pervasive Galaxy will help us collaborate with new customers who have data integration requirements. We think Galaxy will create a streamlined marketplace for suppliers of data integration solutions like us.”
