The OpSource Cloud Servers, which are virtual machines on physical servers, will come with a dedicated virtual local area network with customizable security controls. OpSource uses Cisco-based security capabilities as part of the service.

“Our objective in developing these new cloud service bundles was to make it easy for all businesses to implement network security in the same way they do in their own data centers,” said Treb Ryan, CEO of OpSource, in a statement.  The OpSource features also address customer requests for reliable and configurable end-to-end security options to and from the cloud, he added.

OpSource is guided by a “defense-in-depth” security model, in which a series of security layers are implemented so that companies don’t have to rely on a single network element to provide security, Ryan said. A constant threat of security breaches requires companies to adopt a clear and robust security implementation across the enterprise, he added.

OpSource’s latest features include:

  • Dedicated VLANs to isolate and segment cloud server and network traffic
  • Dedicated firewalls to filter traffic with Access Control Lists on network, network segment or server
  • Virtual private networking and data encryption to ensure client-to-site and site-to-site secure networking
  • Load balancing and multicast to support clustered web, application and database servers; and
  • Network address translation

“These new cloud service bundles…make it easy for all businesses to implement network security in the same way they do in their own data centers."
