HostBridge Technology, a provider of mainframe modernization software for IBM System z mainframes, is shipping its latest upgrade.  HostBridge 6.5 with HostBridge for zIIP runs with IBM’s System z Integrated Information Process (zIIP) specialty engine to boost processing capacity and avoid added fees.

Shifting significant portions of their mainframe integration/SOA workloads to the zIIP will help organizations save money on their mainframe integrations and Web services processes, without a decline in performance, according to Russ Teubner, HostBridge CEO, in a statement.

“Customers will now be able to lower their costs by shifting integration/SOA workloads to the IBM zIIP specialty engine, develop Web services with greater speed and flexibility, and add Web 2.0 functionality to integration/SOA initiatives.”

“Customers will now be able to lower their costs by shifting integration/SOA workloads to the IBM zIIP specialty engine, develop Web services with greater speed and flexibility, and add Web 2.0 functionality to integration/SOA initiatives,” Teubner added.

HostBridge 6.5 also adds enhancements to key features in the company’s current technology, including:

  • HostBridge Process Automation Engine   HostBridge’s Process Automation Engine is rebuilt to support and comply with the ECMAScript Edition 3/JavaScript 1.8 standard. HostBridge’s latest Process Automation Engine is a JavaScript-based development/runtime facility that will integrate any CICS application or CICS-accessible data source (DB2, VSAM, DL/I, Datacom) with any distributed systems.
  • Web 2.0/Lightweight Services  HostBridge adds support for popular SOA and web services technologies, include REST, E4X, XPath, JSON, and Atom.  The new features provide users new choices for services-based CICS and mainframe data integration.  In addition, this support provides rich and easy-to-implement alternatives to using SOAP/WSDL-based services for CICS modernization and integration projects.
  • CICS and System z Support HostBridge continues to support and take advantage of a wide range of CICS and System z tools and technologies, including CICS Explorer, channels, containers, Event Processing, and mainframe/Internet security enhancements.

“Whether you’re a financial services provider repurposing a legacy CICS account application with a Web 2.0 interface or a health insurer making policy data available through a national eHealth cloud, integration remains one of the most effective ways to get maximum bang for your mainframe buck,” Teubner added.

HostBridge Technology is an IBM Advanced Business Partner, a member of the IBM Ready for Rational and Ready for SOA programs, and a licensed IBM zIIP ISV. HostBridge also partners with CA, Oracle, and other industry leaders.
