Clerity, HP Team Up On Mainframe Modernization
Clerity Solutions is teaming up with HP to touring the world demonstrating how to migrate mainframe workloads to open systems platforms without impacting SLAs with Clerity’s UniKix mainframe rehosting technology. The latest demo was at the Ciab 2010 Conference in São Paulo, Brazil, in June.
"Clerity's rehosting software enables customers to quickly and easily migrate their applications from a mainframe environment to HP Integrity servers, lowering the overall cost of their technology infrastructure and improving response times to drive business growth."

Clerity’s UniKix rehosting technology provides an environment for running mission-critical online and batch workloads on open platform Linux-based HP-UX, IBM AIX, Linux on IBM System z, and Oracle Solaris. UniKix reducing annual operating costs by 30-70% for running popular legacy technologies, including CICS, IMS, IDMS and Adabas/Natural, without denigrating service level agreements (SLAs), company officials said.
Last year, Clerity agree to allow HP and its channel partners to resell UniKix. "Customers are moving to standards-based server platforms to cut costs, improve energy efficiency, and increase the flexibility of their technology infrastructures," HP’s worldwide mainframe alternative program manager John Pickett said at the time. “Clerity's rehosting software enables customers to quickly and easily migrate their applications from a mainframe environment to HP Integrity servers, lowering the overall cost of their technology infrastructure and improving response times to drive business growth."
The UniKix mainframe rehosting suite provides four options to address the needs of large and small legacy environments, includes:
- UniKix Transaction Processing Environment is a native, high-performance transaction processing environment for open systems platforms that manages application-based resources such as programs, files, queues, transactions, screens, and terminals.
- UniKix Batch Processing Environment (BPE) is a middleware framework for administering, executing, and managing IBM z/OS and IBM z/VSE batch workloads and third-party system management software components on open environments.
- UniKix Manager lets users view and monitor UniKix TPE system events from any system on the network, providing centralized, real-time information for determining system status, processing rates, potential bottlenecks, and configuration enhancements.
- UniKix Secure provides role-based access control to meet the needs of businesses reliant upon high volume and secure operations.
Attendees at the conference learned how banking and financial services companies have deployed UniKix to keep vital mainframe assets while lowering costs and improving performance, according to officials. Presentations discussed how NYSE Euronext and BNP Paribas were able to cost-per-transaction rates and improve end-to-end performance.
