IBM’s Innovate 2010 conference will provide architects and devs their first chance to see IBM’s just-announced  POWER7 servers, software and platform-optimized Rational’s enterprise modernization development tools.  Innovate 2010, formerly called the Rational Software Conference, will be held in Orlando Fla, June 6 – 10.

Innovate 2010 will also debut a new set of programs aimed to bring together Power professionals  with those using Rational, System z and other IBM technologies, said Hayden Lindsey, an IBM Distinguished Engineer and Vice President in Rational’s Enterprise Modernization Group.

haydenlAttendees will be among the first to see and touch IBM’s just-announced Rational IDE for Power and Rational Team Consort for Power, for cross-platform development, Lindsey added.

“These are very important initiatives for Rational and Power users, and this is the first time we’ll have a dedicated track [at the conference] focused on Power customers,” Lindsey told Integration Developer News.

Scott Searle, Program Director for IBM Rational’s Enterprise Modernization, said Innovate 2010’s debut Power Systems track will provide a 16-session track that presents unprecedented opportunities to network with IBM engineers and customers on the just-announced Rational  upgrades for Power.

(June 6-10 – Orlando, Fla.)

Our latest integrated IDE and team collaboration application lifecycle management systems are a big step forward for any Power customer, they haven’t had these tools in the past and they can learn how to use them, what the value is to them and look at the new compilers so they can recompile it to take advantage of the new massively-parallel, multi-threaded environment in Power7.

Innovate 2010’s dedicated agenda for Power Systems includes:

  • Ask the Experts – Exclusive Power Systems edition (execs, technical leads, and plenty of Power customers)
  • Up-close with Power - Demos, hands-on labs, workshops sandboxes
  • POWER7 showcases – See the latest IBM offerings for POWER7 (WebSphere, RD Power, RTC Power, Rational EM – and more)
  • Power Systems customer appreciation reception (network with thousands of fellow users)
  • Power Best Practices – Learn from IBM experts, customers how to cut costs, improve operational efficiencies

“A key thing  is to have corresponding compilers that help you fully exploit your infrastructure. It doesn’t do you a great deal of good to have new instructions that the compiler doesn’t know how to exploit,” Lindsey told IDN.

At Innovate, IBM will show the new IDEs and high-level languages, including an Eclipse-based IDE for C/C++ developers for AIX, as well as a new release of Rational Team Consort designed to help distributed teams collaborate with Power developers across a unified single-team infrastructure.
