CDC Sofshaking_handstware Corp. continues to amass a portfolio of SOA-driven technologies ranging from BPM/ECM, on-demand SaaS and even integrated supply chain.  CDC execs say these sectors will hold the keys to company growth and afford them new customer opportunities through cross-selling.

This week, CDC Software officials said the company plans to acquire a yet-unnamed provider of supply chain and demand planning software.  The new firm would be added to other supply chain offerings, and add to CDC’s mid-market SCM options.

While CDC would not disclose the name of the target firm, CDC President Bruce Cameron said of the firm, “We believe this new technology will provide our customers with a 360 degree view of their supply and demand requirements and constraints, as well as the analysis needed to optimize their supply chains.”

Since late last year, CDC has been on quite the shopping spree, which includes:

  • WKD Solutions, a supply chain event management software company
  • Activplant, a provider of manufacturing intelligence software
  • Truition, a cloud-based on demand e-Commerce platform provider for retailers and brand manufacturers
  • gomembers, a provider of cloud-based software-as-a-service enterprise software for the Not-For-Profit (NFP) and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) markets, and
  •  Plans to purchase up to 51% stake of Vitova, a Hong Kong-based ECM (enterprise content management) service provider and winner of Microsoft Hong Kong’s “Best ISV of the Year 2009” award

In its latest public statements, CDC has emphasized its focus on SOA and cloud architectures.  In part CDC describes its effort as, “Leveraging a service-oriented architecture (SOA), CDC Software offers multiple delivery options for their solutions such as on-premise, cloud-based or hybrid (blending of the two options) deployment offerings. “

The company’s products/suites include: CDC Factory (manufacturing operations management), Activplant (enterprise manufacturing intelligence), CDC Ross ERP, CDC Supply Chain, CDC xAlerts (real-time supply chain event management), CDC Power (discrete ERP), CDC eCommerce, CDC NFP/NGO, CDC Pivotal CRM and Saratoga CRM.
