NetBeans 6.5 Available, Keys on Multi-Language Support

Sun Microsystems and the NetBeans community have released NetBeans 6.5 Integrated Development Environment (IDE). NetBeans 6.5 goes way beyond traditional Java enhancements, with new support for PHP, updates for Web and Java development, an early access version for Python. NetBeans 6.5 also expands localization to a whole new set of written languages.
"Integration across multiple languages simplifies development. The NetBeans IDE 6.5 allows you to stay within one tool and move easily from PHP to JavaScript and back. It's all about making developers more productive," said Ian Murdock, vice president, Developer and Community Marketing at Sun, in a statement.

Sun will also offer a tiered set of developer support services, ranging from single incident to comprehensive developer plans. In mid-December, Sun roils out its Sun Certified Specialist for NetBeans IDE training and certification program.
"In the development arena, mixed language programming is becoming the norm. We needed our tools to be in one place, by adding the early access version of Python to the NetBeans project, we can accomplish our development in a more productive manner," said Allan Davis, lead developer, nbPython, in a statement.
